We are getting more requests for delivering INSET in schools around the north of England.

Our specialist areas include spiritual development, child development and the links between personality and faith expression.

A big area of our work now includes resourcing and training staff in collective worship. Such a programme might include:

Introduction to worship and why it is important

Liturgical cycle and its relevance in schools

Planning accessible worship

Styles of storytelling

Empowering pupils to participate in the planning and celebration of collective worship

Story - worship - learning styles: Who we are is how we pray

The Network team spent a week with the staff and pupils of Leyland St Mary's Technology College.

Amazing

The theme of the week was Have-a-go-heroes and we celebrated the knowledge that Mission is possible.

Pupils from every year group were involved.

The superhero football match saw Batman tackling Bananaman...

Year 11 pupils were superheroes for the week - joining the mission team to deliver workshops and activities across the school.

The highlight for many was the Thurs evening celebration of Mass in St Mary's Church with a procession of Superheroes leading our time of worship, along with Mike Anderson (yes, he of Clappy Gloria fame!!) and his amazing band of musicians. So many people worked hard to make the week a success - the new school chaplain joined the school on the Monday of the mission so he had a real awakening!

Thanks to everyone who joined the team, who led workshops, wore crazy costumes, sang at the social, prayed before school...

I think I'll always remember the surreal experience of a whole school Mass on Friday afternoon and Batman (aka Head of Year 10!) wandering around in cape and mask with four Wonderwomen staff - one of whom was a Eucharistic minister... priceless

Catechists from St Peter's parish, Lytham came together for a four week refresher course on catechesis.

Sessions on Introducing catechesis, Children's liturgy, Sacramental preparation and RCIA included time to explore, discuss and experience practical ways of sharing the faith journey.

Participants went away saying

'I now have a greater understanding of why I'm a catechist'

'I feel more confident to stand in front of the children and lead children's liturgy...'

'It's great to realise that I don't have to be an expert to be a catechist and realise the value of the witness I need to be.'

Contact us if you'd like to renew your parish catechesis provision.
